Etchingham C E School Uniform Policy

Principles

We believe that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos and environment.

We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform in this policy, in our school prospectus and on the Learning Platform.

Aims
Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • engenders a feeling of community and belonging
  • is practical and smart
  • identifies the children with the school
  • is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be)
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
  • has been designed with health and safety in mind.

Our colours are green, grey and white and the uniform is as follows:

  • White polo shirt

Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school.  Pupils may wear stud earrings only.

Make up and Cosmetics
The school does not permit such products to be worn by any children.  Hair accessories eg hair band / alice band or simple toggles may be worn. Elaborate hair accessories are not permitted.;

All clothing and footwear should be clearly labelled with your child’s name to avoid loss of property.

Uniform supplier

The School’s current uniform supplier is PMG Schoolwear and you may order directly from their website at: http://www.pmgschoolwear.co.uk/advanced_search.php?skl_id=6584&pager=view_all

We hold “try on” stock in school for sizing purposes. We will also order for parents if they are unable to order directly from the website themselves; please note that we will charge an administration fee for this service to cover the postage costs to the school.

We appreciate that some items are available elsewhere at lower prices than our suppliers. Non-logo items may be purchased from high street stores or superstores, providing that they are the right colour. This includes the grey trousers, shorts, skirts, plain white polo shirts and green check gingham dresses.
